BTC drops inter-island charges

22 Jul 2011

The Bahamas Telecommunication Company (BTC), the only cellco serving the islands, has removed its inter-island rates. BTC will no longer charge long-distance rates for making calls to a fixed line or mobile number in another island. Previously, BTC added USD0.18 to every mobile call made between the Bahamas’ 29 islands.

Geoff Houston, Chief Executive Officer of BTC said that ‘the removal of long distance charges for island-to-island cellular calls is one of the promises made as part of our commitment to improve customer service while reducing rates.’
