Attorney-General approves CAT-True deals

14 Jul 2011

Thailand’s Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) has concluded that the 3G mobile resale/wholesale/resale deals struck in January between state-run CAT Telecom and subsidiaries of True Corp (parent of cellco True Move) comply with the law. The Office ruled the deals are not subject to the 1992 Public-Private Joint Venture Act and that the deals do not violate the wholesale-resale regulations of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), reports Telecompaper quoting The Nation. The OAG did, however, recommend that CAT consult the NTC to confirm the contracts are valid from a regulatory aspect.
