Western Canada-based cableco Shaw Communications has posted a 28% year-on-year increase in net profit to CAD203 million (USD208 million) as it shaved costs and increased revenues to CAD1.28 billion in the three months ended 31 May 2011 from CAD944 million a year earlier. Shaw has repeatedly delayed its entry into the mobile market but is continuing its wireless network rollout, spending CAD22 million in the quarter on cellular infrastructure, although it still has not released a target date for launch.
