Digicel posts 27% increase in revenue for FY2010/2011

Jamaican cellco Digicel Group has posted its results for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2011, reporting a 27% rise in revenue, up to USD2.23 billion. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased to USD953 million from USD753 million the previous year, representing a year-on-year growth of 27%, with EBITDA margins at 43%. Total subscribers increased by 6% to 11.5 million across 32 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific. Digicel has attributed success this year to its effective deployment of 4G in Jamaica, HSPA+ in Bermuda and the French West Indies, and cloud services in Barbados, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. Acquisitions of Puerto Rico’s Nextar and Papua New Guinea’s Data Net were also listed with the company’s accomplishments.
