True upgrades corporate Ethernet service to 10Gbps

17 Mar 2011

True Corp has introduced a fibre-optic/Metro Ethernet service offering bandwidth of up to 10Gbps for corporate customers, reports the Bangkok Post. True also revealed plans to install its fibre-optic broadband network in an additional 130 buildings this year, bringing the total to 170. The company claims to be Thailand’s second largest provider of fibre/Ethernet/LAN services, behind state-owned TOT’s ‘Metro Lan’ service. Chumanat Katesatien, vice-president for business data services at True Corp, said that its Ethernet range, offering speeds from 2Mbps to 10Gbps, targeted customers from small-to-medium sized firms up to large banks.

Earlier this week, True launched a new high speed internet package for residential users, offering a maximum speed of 100Mbps, and also announced that it would invest over THB5 billion (USD165 million) in its broadband business in full-year 2011. At 31 December 2010, True had 814,000 broadband subscribers, up by 122,000 in twelve months, and it expects to reach a total of one million this year.
