DNA concludes cooperation negotiations with SWTV

21 Feb 2011

Having announced back in January 2011 that it would merge its operations with SWelcom Television (SWTV), Finland’s largest cable television company, triple-play provider DNA Finland has revealed that it has concluded negotiations regarding the tie-up. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, DNA paid EUR200 million (USD245 million) in July 2010 for SWTV, which offers services under the Welho banner. In the latest development DNA said that as result of the restructuring 23 DNA employees will be made redundant, while the positions of 27 employees will be relocated; following the negotiations DNA’s workforce will total around 980. Commenting on the progress made in combining the two companies’ operations, Riitta Tiuraniemi, president and CEO of DNA, said: ‘The purpose of this restructuring process is to create a strong and competitive entity. Our goal is to continue growing and expanding our service portfolio further. As a powerful player, we have good prospects for this, for instance in mobile communication services and television operations.’
