Orange Jordan: 500,000 broadband subs this year

11 Feb 2011

The Jordan Times reports that Orange Jordan, the operating arm of the Jordan Telecom Group, has said that it expects its broadband internet subscriber base to exceed 500,000 by the end of this year, an increase of 200,000 on the end-2010 total. CEO Nayla Khawam was quoted as saying the firm will introduce download speeds of up to 20Mbps in the next few weeks, up from the previous maximum of 8Mbps. ‘There is a huge demand by internet users in Jordan for higher internet speeds, especially since the use of data is increasing rapidly in the country,’ Khawam said in a press conference.
