AIS’ annual net profit rises 19%

Thailand’s leading cellco by subscribers Advanced Info Service (AIS) has posted a 19% rise in full-year 2010 net profit to THB20.6 billion (USD670 million). The GSM operator, part of the SingTel group, recorded net income of THB5.8 billion in the fourth quarter of the year, up from THB4.1 billion in 4Q09. Total revenues for January-December 2010 increased by 8.6% to THB111.3 billion, as the mobile subscriber base grew to 31.2 million at the end of the year, up from 28.8 million twelve months earlier; net additions in the fourth quarter stood at 700,000. AIS posted an annual EBITDA margin of 46.8%, whilst it predicted a slightly lower margin of around 45% in 2011. It also forecast revenue growth of 4% in 2011, supported by expected data service revenue growth of between 25% and 30% driven by take-up of smartphones and social networking application usage.
