Magnet launches free web-based TV service

Irish alternative broadband services provider, Magnet Networks, has launched a free web-based live TV service, complete with integrated social networking including Twitter and Facebook. Online news portal Business & Leadership writes that the altnet’s new service will offer live streaming of five Irish TV channels for free, regardless of the provider. Any Magnet customer with a 1Mbps broadband connection will be able to register to magnetwebtv.ie in order to watch RTE1, Network 2, TV3, TG4 and 3e live from any web browser. Further, Magnet’s new service requires no TV licence fees, no cable subscription, no contract, no monthly subscription fee and no software downloads, it said.
