Vodafone launches 3G in Tirana

Vodafone Albania has launched its 3G network in the capital Tirana and its suburbs, and has said it plans to increase coverage of the W-CDMA/HSPA platform to 85.6% of the country’s population within 18 months. Among the next cities to be covered are Durresi, Elbasani, Fieri, Shkodra and Vlora. A Vodafone statement says that the new platform is capable of providing download speeds of up to 14.4Mbps, enabling customers to stream data intensive media, make video calls, download high volumes of content and access social networks.
