Telecom Fiji inaugurates NGN service

25 Nov 2010

Fijian local fixed line operator Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) has launched next generation network (NGN) services to replace equipment in its obsolete Suva Telephone Exchange. Commenting on the upgrade, TFL chief executive officer Rohan Mail said the NGN would open up the gamut of advanced data and video services for its customers. ‘I can confirm the completion of Phase 1 of this project – which includes the successful migration of 10,000 Suva based customers to the first multi-service platform – a platform that now allows TFL the competitive advantage of quadruple services of telephone, internet, IPTV and video via one single line. Customers have the ability to receive voice-over-IP and new fixed broadband technologies which will provide high speed links with download speeds ranging from 2Mbps to 52Mbps,’ he said.
