Kcell announces mobile WiMAX launch in Atyrau

Kazakh cellco GSM Kazakhstan, which operates mobile services under the Kcell brand, has announced the commercial launch of mobile broadband services in the city of Atyrau. The service, which utilises WiMAX technology, offers transmission speeds of 2Mbps, which the company say is suitable for videoconferencing, large file transfers and viewing movies online. Nurlan Sargaskayev, business development director of GSM Kazakhstan commented: ‘The commercial launch of WiMAX in Atyrau is a timely response to our clients’ needs and desires. We are pleased that our subscribers may use the advantages of WiMAX technology – high bit rate internet and low tariffs. We have analysed the traffic use by subscribers and developed a set of tariffs, which best correspond to our clients’ needs’.
