WiMAX network operator Max Telecom has selected Samsung Electronics as its sole mobile WiMAX solutions vendor. Max Telecom plans to upgrade its commercial 802.16e network with Samsung’s technology in Bulgaria at the end of 2010. The deal will see the telco expand its network to give it national coverage of 7.6 million people by 2012, aiming to provide richer mobile data services as well as a high-quality VoIP offering. Krassimir Stoitcheff, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Max Telecom, said: ‘In co-operation with Samsung…we’re very proud to offer our existing customers an improved wireless broadband service and also to introduce mobile WiMAX, one of the most advanced and innovative technologies, to more of the Bulgarian people.’ The Max Telecom network aims to deliver fixed nomadic (802.16-2004) and mobile wireless broadband services; both indoors and on the move. Max Telecom will offer complementary devices providing wireless indoor solutions for the office and home with download speeds of up to 32Mbps.
