Ukrtelecom to be offered at USD1.5 billion

2 Sep 2010

Ukrainian incumbent PSTN operator Ukrtelecom is expected to be offered for sale at a starting price of UAH12 billion (USD1.5 billion), State Property Fund (SPF) announced yesterday. Ukraine’s Millenium Capital commented that the price guidance provided is not far above the current UAH10.6 billion market capitalisation of the fixed line, broadband and 3G mobile network operator. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that the SPF has called for an open auction of the government’s entire 92.8% stake to be launched by this month, although many previous similar announcements have come to nothing.
