PTCL posts net profit of PKR9.3bn for FY09/10

Pakistan’s fixed line incumbent Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has posted net profit of PKR9.29 billion (USD107.2 million) in the fiscal year ended 30 June 2010, compared to PKR9.15 billion the previous year, according to news agency Reuters. The operator’s fourth quarter revenue totalled PKR57.17 billion, down from PKR59.24 billion reported in the same period of 2009, although operating income rose to PKR5.13 billion, compared with PKR4.26 billion the previous year. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, PTCL is owned by the Pakistan government (62%) and Etisalat (26%) with the remaining 12% distributed. Etisalat has management control.
