MegaFon consolidating PeterStar

25 Aug 2010

Russian mobile operator MegaFon has announced that it plans to acquire direct ownership of telco PeterStar from its own unit Synterra, as a way of consolidating its business in the North West Federal District. In March 2010 MegaFon acquired 100% of Synterra, which owns 100% of PeterStar. In July 2010 PeterStar announced plans to merge five of its own subsidiaries into its central operation. This latest move can be seen as another step towards MegaFon achieving overall synergy with its new subsidiaries. The company’s board of directors will meet on 28 September to discuss the terms of the deal.
