Three offers for Telekom Srbija

17 Aug 2010

The Serb government’s sale of a 40% stake in Telekom Srbija has attracted bids from three international telcos, according to a report from Imerisia which cites Serbian press stories. Bids have been entered by Germany’s Deutsche Telekom (DT), Orascom Telecom of Egypt and Turkey’s former monopoly operator Turk Telekom, the report says. Serbia’s government is selling half of its 80% stake in the incumbent fixed line operator in an auction which is expected to raise between EUR2 billion and EUR4 billion (USD2.7 billion and USD5.3 billion); OTE of Greece, which is part-owned by DT, has a 20% interest.
