ADSL, cable broadband subs up again in June, fixed lines down

The total number of ADSL and cable broadband subscriptions in Hungary climbed by 21,000 in June 2010 for a month-end total of 1.850 million, the National Telecommunications Authority (NHH) reports. However, the total for fixed line telephones dipped from 3.055 million in January 2010 to 2.483 million at the mid-year point, it added. Of the total for broadband connections, ADSL accounted for 800,000 (down 1,000 on the previous month), while cable lines climbed 22,000 from the end of May to 1.050 million, the NHH said. Fixed teledensity dipped to 30.06 lines per 100 of population as at 30 June, down from 31.03 one month earlier. The NHH reported that the total duration of calls placed reached 440 million minutes in June, down around eight million from the previous month.
