Libya denies Turkcell fixed, mobile telecom services licence

22 Jul 2010

Libya’s General Telecommunications Authority (GTA) has refused to grant approval to any of the companies which entered bids for a fixed and mobile telecoms licence, Turkcell has revealed. A full year after Turkcell and its UAE-based rival Etisalat lodged bids with the GTA, the GTA has decided that neither of the proposals were satisfactory. It is not known whether the GTA will renew its attempts to hold a new tender.
