Smart picks ZTE for CDMA network enhancement

Indonesian CDMA mobile operator Smart Telecom has awarded China’s ZTE Corp an exclusive contract to supply it with network infrastructure equipment. Having already secured a 1xEV-DO Rev B upgrade contract covering Bali, ZTE has now been appointed as Smart’s exclusive supplier of 6,000-plus base stations with capacity for 25 million people and covering the whole of Indonesia. TelecomTiger reports the contract involves wireless solutions, transmission and core network products, business platform systems, power supplies and other ancillary equipment.
