Vodafone increases mobile broadband speeds to 28.8Mbps

23 Jun 2010

Dutch mobile operator Vodafone Netherlands has revealed it is expanding capacity and data transfer speeds on its mobile broadband networks, in the process increasing theoretical maximum downloads to 28.8Mbps, using HSPA+ MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology. Under the upgrade, which is set to begin within the next few weeks, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague will be the first to be upgraded. However, work will continue for the next year or so as the cellco looks to extend coverage of the improved service to other towns and cities. Despite the ambitious rollout, Vodafone stressed that full 28.8Mbps coverage will not be offered across the country.
