Alcatel-Lucent and Telefonica Peru have completed a live Long Term Evolution (LTE) call trial using the 700MHz frequency band, writes TelecomPaper. The pair claim to have demonstrated 4G performance in real-world network conditions, achieving good in-building coverage. In addition, LTE data upload and download capabilities were tested, reportedly reaching speeds 20 times faster than the average in HSPA. The tests are part of Telefonica’s LTE field pilot in the Peruvian capital of Lima, where the operator is analysing LTE coverage capabilities as well as its capacity to support the delivery of new mobile applications.
