Cable Bahamas plans voice services by year end

19 May 2010

Bahamian cableco Cable Bahamas has announced it plans to launch ‘new converged voice services’ by the end of this year. ‘With the requisite support of our regulators, and the rights we hold under our new licence, received in October of 2009, Cable Bahamas is positioned to improve customer choices, service offering and its financial metrics,’ the company said in a statement to the local bourse. The launch of voice telephony services by the island’s only cable company would finally end the long-running monopoly of the Bahamas Telephone Company (BTC).
