PTA suspends Redtone’s long distance concessions

26 Apr 2010

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reportedly suspended the domestic long-distance and international long-distance (DLD and ILD) licence of Redtone Telecommunications, the Daily Times reports. It is understood that the regulator made the decision based on claims that the operator was concealing details of the number of minutes of international incoming traffic on its network; under the terms of its concession Redtone is required to deposit an Access Promotion Contribution (APC) for Universal Service Fund (USF) based on the total number of minutes of international incoming traffic.
