Report puts EUR2.5bn figure on NGN rollout cost

19 Apr 2010

A report by the Telecommunications and Internet Federation (TIF), scheduled for publication today, is expected to highlight the fact that it will cost up to EUR2.5 billion (USD3.4 billion) to construct next generation networks (NGNs) in the Republic to consumers and businesses alike to access services such as high-definition TV (HD TV) over the internet. The Irish Independent claims the TIF will use the report to warn legislators that Ireland ‘must act quickly to avoid being left behind other countries that are accelerating investment’ in NGNs.
