Warid, Citycell ink infrastructure sharing contract

12 Apr 2010

Bangladeshi mobile network operators Warid Telecom and Citycell have signed a network sharing contract in a move that will reduce their ongoing rollout costs. In a deal completed yesterday by both cellco’s chief executive officers, Warid will be able to share the infrastructural equipment rooms of its rival Citycell. Warid CEO Chris Tobit said the deal would allow them to share Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) including towers, poles, transmitter equipment, transmission bandwidth and power, and help them to ensure wider coverage and greater capacity at a lower overall cost.
