Intelig launches BPL voice and data services

Brazilian telco Intelig, a subsidiary of cellco TIM Brasil, has launched broadband internet access and fixed telephony services using broadband over powerline (BPL) technology in selected areas of the capital, Sao Paulo, reports BNamericas quoting local news service Agencia Estado. Intelig’s BPL voice and data bundled offering is packaged as ‘InteligCombo’, and was launched over the infrastructure of local power utility Eletropaulo. The double-play service is initially available in 350 buildings, covering 18,000 homes, and the operator is targeting 30% penetration of potential customers covered by the rollout within six months, and said coverage will be expanded if demand proves sufficient.
