ICE to call time on TDMA network

26 Mar 2010

ICE has announced that it will close its TDMA network at the end of the year and is advising customers to migrate to its GSM or 3G networks as soon as possible. TDMA users have had sporadic service of late, which ICE attributed to the reassignment of spectrum at the end of last year. The Costa Rican government paid USD7 million in compensation to ICE for a portion of its spectrum in order to auction the 850MHz, 1800MHz and 2100MHz bands for 3G and GSM use.
