Telekom Srbija sale inches closer

24 Mar 2010

The Serbian government is expected to discuss the sale of a 40% stake in Telekom Srbija later this week. Telekom Srbija is 20% owned by Greek operator OTE with the remaining stake controlled by the government. Local news agency Tanjug reported the telecoms minister Jasna Matic as saying that, in her opinion, the state has been poorly managing the company and that a sale would be good for the economy. The minister was also cited by newspaper Blic, as saying that several companies are interested in the stake, including OTE shareholder Deutsche Telekom, Orascom and Turk Telecom.
