ITC (CDMA Ukraine) loses battle-of-the-confusingly-named-CDMA-operators

24 Mar 2010

Ukrainian CDMA2000-based voice and internet provider International Telecommunications Company (ITC, branded as CDMA Ukraine) has lost a court battle with the country’s telecoms regulator the National Commission on Communications Regulation (NCCR) regarding frequencies held by its competitor Intertelecom (IT CDMA), reports Kiev-based newspaper Delo. The Supreme Court of Ukraine put an end to prolonged litigation between the parties, preventing CDMA Ukraine from reversing the NCCR’s decision to allocate certain 800MHz frequencies to IT CDMA. However, CDMA Ukraine reportedly indicated it would continue to fight for the rights to use the frequencies itself. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, CDMA Ukraine completed the takeover of then-larger CDMA rival Velton Telecom in October 2008.
