Telefonica ends 2009 with 767,000 broadband subscribers

Peruvian telecoms operator Telefonica del Peru (TdP) ended 2009 with 767,000 broadband connections nationwide, a 10% increase on end-2008, state news service Andina reported. In the broadband segment, the telco generated revenues of PEN224 million (USD78 million) in the fourth quarter of 2009, up 10.6% compared to the same period the previous year. Quarterly revenues for the fixed telephony segment slipped to PEN320 million, down 6.6% year-on-year, while for the full year sales fell 8.2% to PEN1.3 billion.
