UPC Ireland reveals mobile ambition

22 Jan 2010

UPC Ireland (ntl & Chorus), which is owned by US cable giant Liberty Global Inc, has revealed plans to enter the Republic’s mobile phone market. Newspaper the Irish Times quotes company’s CEO Robert Dunn as saying that while matters were still at an ‘explorative stage’, UPC Ireland considers mobile to be an important sector for the company to have a presence in. The chief executive went on to add that any launch would be as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and not through the acquisition of an existing network operator.
