Lanka Bell expanding in north with Sierra

6 Jan 2010

Sri Lankan CDMA-based fixed line provider Lanka Bell, which claims 1.2 million subscribers, has awarded an expansion project for Northern Province to Sierra Global Network, a firm which has been involved in the network expansions of several telecom operators in both Northern and Eastern Provinces since the recent ending of military action in the regions. Director/CEO of Sierra Global Dr. Arosha Fernando said: ‘We have had a long and fruitful partnership with Lanka Bell over the years in their CDMA expansion drive through equipment provider Huawei, by providing them with infrastructure development services for their base stations as well as the cable laying of their state-of-the-art fibre-optic submarine cable network. We are eagerly looking forward to… expanding into the north of the island, as we continue to provide it with the quality infrastructure they need for this purpose.’
