Beeline launches IPTV in Kiev

18 Dec 2009

Vimpelcom’s twin Ukrainian operators Ukrainian Radio Systems (URS) and Golden Telecom, both managed and branded under the Russian group’s Beeline brand, have jointly announced the launch of IPTV services in Kiev. Available as a limited trial in the capital since June, the full 30-channel broadcast service remains free of subscription to Beeline’s ‘Internet At Home’ fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) broadband customers, although all users must purchase a TV set-top unit from the company. Beeline Ukraine is expected to expand digital TV services to other cities in 2010. The operator had 83,500 FTTB internet subscribers as of end-September 2009.
