Ericsson to upgrade GrameenPhone’s network

Bangladesh’s mobile market leader GrameenPhone has contracted Ericsson to expand and upgrade its network by deploying new technology including a mobile soft switch solution. The deal covers the upgrading of the cellco’s packet-switched and circuit-switched core network, as well as its GSM radio access network, and the supply, deployment and systems integration of Ericsson’s Mobile Packet Backbone Network solution. The two-year contract, of undisclosed value, also includes charging solutions and related services.
