Pakistan, Bangladesh WiMAX firm Augere sells stake to equity house

WiMAX wireless broadband operator Augere has sold a 25% equity stake to private equity firm Harbinger Capital Partners for USD50 million. Augere, which uses the Qubee brand name, launched WiMAX services in Pakistan in July this year, and followed this up by switching on its network in Dhaka, Bangladesh earlier this month. It also owns WiMAX spectrum in Uganda and is pursuing licences in other countries in Asia and Africa.
