BanglaLion places 10,000 WiMAX CPE order with Accton

Bangladeshi WiMAX licensee BanglaLion Communications has placed orders for 10,000 WiMAX Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) devices with Taiwan-based Accton Technology and is negotiating orders with Zyxel Communications, according to company chairman Abdul Manan, quoted by Malaysian news site DigiTimes. BanglaLion’s purchases of CPE products include USB network cards, indoor and outdoor WiMAX terminal-end devices, whilst Manan also intends to contact suppliers offering laptop PCs with built-in WiMAX modules. According to the report BanglaLion plans to invest USD250 million to build out its WiMAX infrastructure in the next five years, aiming to increase its number of WiMAX base stations to 6,000 from the current 900.
