C&W connects C-BUS cable to boost internet bandwidth

26 Oct 2009

C&W Bermuda customers will be able to enjoy increased internet bandwidth and improved internet services thanks to the commissioning of a USD10 million submarine fibre-optic cable link. The company announced at the weekend that the 1,000-mile Caribbean Bermuda US (C-BUS) cable, which runs along the seabed between Bermuda and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, was connected into the landing station and installed at the C&W Teleport site in Devonshire, on time and on budget. The C-BUS cable is the second phase of a secure network ring which includes C&W Bermuda’s Gemini cable which terminates in New Jersey. The first section of the cable, Gemini Bermuda, was installed in March 2007, linking Bermuda to the US.
