Orange Jordan to introduce 3G services in Q1 2010

19 Oct 2009

The Jordan Telecom Group (JTG, Orange Jordan) announced yesterday that it will launch 3G services in the first quarter of 2010, initially in the country’s capital Amman and nearby areas, before expanding the service gradually to cover all twelve of Jordan’s governorates. The company recently signed a deal with Ericsson for the provision of 3G equipment. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, JTG received its next generation concession in August, paying JOD50 million (USD70.5 million). It has a year of exclusivity at which point rival cellcos will be able to launch 3G services provided they meet the same conditions.
