Mobily: 3Q09 net profit up 49.7%

19 Oct 2009

Saudi Arabia’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers Mobily has reported net profit for the three months ended 30 September 2009 of SAR807 million (USD214.6 million), up 49.7% from SAR539 million in the same period a year earlier. In a statement to the Saudi bourse the company said: ‘The increase in the net profit during the third quarter stemmed from the continued steady increase in the number of post-paid telephone lines.’ Mobily also cited its 3G expansion programme, as reported by CommsUpdate on 10 August, as driving interest in its operations and attracting consumers to its services.
