Alcatel-Lucent has announced that Orange Uganda has selected it to reduce its global network maintenance costs and improve network operating efficiencies. The French/US equipment vendor will build, operate and manage the Orange Uganda mobile network by providing technical support, repair, field maintenance and programme management services. Alca-Lu claims the full managed services contract is the first not only for Uganda but also in East Africa. ‘By choosing Alcatel-Lucent to oversee our network maintenance, we’re able to streamline network operations with a common set of processes and to increase scalability, while simultaneously reducing costs, simplifying maintenance and delivering the consistent service levels our customers expect’ said Philippe Luxcey, CEO of Orange Uganda.
