7 Oct 2009

American hardware vendor Airspan Networks has said that it expects to complete the deployment of a WiMAX network for Santa Cruz-based telco Co-operativa de Telecomunicaciones Santa Cruz (COTAS) within four month, BNamericas reports. Under the contract between the two companies Airspan will use a combination of its HiperMAX and MicroMAX base stations to cover the departments of Santa Cruz, La Paz and Cochabamba, as well as five other cities including Sucre and Tarija. COTAS expects to use the infrastructure, which will operate utilising frequencies in the 3.5GHz band, to offer broadband data services and other high-end IP applications.
