Indian cellco Aircel has revealed that it has signed a ten-year infrastructure sharing agreement with BSNL which will see it gain access to the latter’s 45,000 base stations. ‘Aircel will now have access to strategically located sites across BSNL’s 21 circles (excluding Mumbai and Delhi). Leveraging BSNL’s passive infrastructure will help Aircel meet its aggressive network roll out plans in addition to reducing operational cost,’ said Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh in a statement. No financial details of the agreement have been disclosed. The move follows hot on the heels of a similar deal signed recently between BSNL and Tata Teleservices (TTSL).
