MIC rejects BSNL bid for Tigo SL

18 Sep 2009

Millicom International Cellular (MIC) has rejected a bid by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for Tigo SL, reports Indian newspaper The Economic Times. The move is likely to leave Bharti Airtel, Etisalat and Vimpelcom to duke it out for the Sri Lankan mobile operator. BSNL chairman and managing director Kuldeep Goyal told reports that his company’s bid had been turned down after it failed to meet Millicom’s price expectations. MIC is also rumoured to have rejected a bid by Axiata, the holding company for Telekom Malaysia’s international assets.
