Nextera deploys WiMAX

11 Sep 2009

Minneapolis-based telco Nextera Communications has announced that it has started to build out its WiMAX networks in Minnesota using equipment provided by Aperto Networks and Tranzeo Wireless Technologies. Nextera CEO Greg Arvig described the network as being targeted at ‘capacity-starved businesses that are otherwise forced into expensive plans just to get a megabit or two of service.’ The network will use Aperto’s PacketMAX technology, and will operate on licensed spectrum in the 3.65GHz frequency band. Aperto says PacketMAX delivers potential data rates of over 20 Mbps.
