3 Sep 2009

Jamaican wireless network operator Digicel has announced that it will be offering residential WiMAX-based services in Jamaica from the second quarter of 2010, having secured a licence in the 2.5GHz spectrum for USD1.2 million earlier this year. The firm plans to invest USD22.7 million in the first year of its WiMAX project, which will be launched through a new division of the company called Digicel Broadband. Digicel Broadband will initially cover 60% of the population, with coverage of all 14 parishes.
