MoC will not license new telecom operators

Ghana’s Minister of Communications Mr Haruna Iddrisu yesterday said the government would not license any new telecoms operators, pledging to ‘safeguard the integrity of the industry’. At the opening of mobile operator Tigo’s refurbished head offices in Accra the minister said: ‘The government has no intentions of adding a new telecom player to the six [already] in the Ghanaian market,’ stressing that the decision was to ensure that the integrity of the market was not compromised.
