AirSpeed secures 10.5GHz licences for business network rollout

23 Jul 2009

Dublin-based AirSpeed Telecom, which provides voice and data services to a range of businesses across Ireland, has been awarded 10.5GHz radio spectrum licenses by the regulator ComReg for Dundalk, Portlaoise, Wexford and Waterford. The company says it now intends to invest EUR500,000 (USD710,135) to roll out 10Mbps services for business users in these counties, allowing them to access high capacity bandwidth services with fast, uncontended internet, data, voice and video applications. AirSpeed Telecom was also recently awarded multiple lots of 26GHz spectrum licences from ComReg which will significantly increase capacity in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway for uncontended high bandwidth services. AirSpeed Telecom says it has signed a number of high profile contracts in 2009 with companies such as Udarás na Gaeltachta, Vhi Healthcare and Vista Primary Care.
