Elisa says EBITDA up, sales down

Elisa has reported a 7% year-on-year rise in EBITDA to EUR116 million (USD163.5 million) on the back of tighter cost management. Revenue fell 5% to EUR355 million, in line with expectations. The company says it expects sales and EBITDA for the whole of 2009 to be largely unchanged from 2008 levels, with higher mobile usage offset by weaker equipment and services sales. It added that capital expenditure is to be actively controlled to a maximum of 12% of revenue, and that it may be reduced if the economic climate worsens.
