8 Jul 2009

Bell Aliant has earmarked CAD60 million (USD52 million) to connect 70,000 homes and businesses in Fredericton and Saint John with direct fibre-optic access technology by mid-2010, reports CBC News. Karen Sheriff, the telco’s president and CEO, said that that the project will be the most comprehensive fibre rollout yet seen in any Canadian city. The New Brunswick provincial government is contributing CAD1 million to the project; the province was Bell Aliant’s launch centre for its high speed internet services in 1996.
